About Dr. Islam Heliel
Dr. Islam Heliel is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in General Adult Psychiatry, with over 18 years of experience in the NHS and 16 years as a substantive consultant at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Since 2023, he has practised privately with a focus on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of adult ADHD and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Dr. Heliel holds a medical degree and a Master’s in Neuropsychiatry from the University of Alexandria, Egypt, and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2003. He received his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry with an endorsement in Substance Misuse in 2007.

- Substance misuse and dual diagnosis: including inpatient and community detox programmes, opiate substitution therapy, and culturally informed addiction care.
- Neuropsychiatry: managing conditions such as epilepsy and multiple sclerosis following four years of specialist training.

- Expert witness work: producing over 150 court-commissioned psychiatric reports.
