Dr Adrian Barnardo

Dr. Adrian Barnardo is a highly accomplished Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist with extensive training and experience in hepatology and endoscopy. He obtained his BMedSci (Hons) in 1992 and BM BS in 1994 from the University of Nottingham. His professional journey included general and specialist training in the London Deanery, with notable placements at prestigious institutions such as the Institute of Liver Studies at King's College Hospital, Guy's and St Thomas' University Hospital, and Brighton and Sussex University Hospital.

Dr. Barnardo pursued a hepatology training fellowship at the Peninsula Liver Centre in Plymouth, where he honed his hepatological and endoscopic skills. During his tenure at Kings College Hospital, he conducted research into MARS therapy and the haematological complications of liver disease, culminating in the award of his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2009.

In 2009, Dr. Barnardo was appointed as a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at St Mary's Hospital, and later relocated to Kent in 2012. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in medical education, serving as a Royal College Tutor and trainer on national JAG Endoscopy Courses at Brighton University. He has also achieved recognition as a nationally recognised bowel cancer screening endoscopist.

In recognition of his contributions to the field of Gastroenterology, Dr. Barnardo was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2015 and the prestigious Fellow of the American Gastroenterology Association (AGAF) in 2017. He has also played a pivotal role in the development of local liver services at Medway Maritime Hospital NHS Trust and Maidstone & Tunbridge NHS Trust.
