Dr Dimitrios Varthalitis

Dr Dimitrios Varthalitis is an accomplished Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeon who provides dedicated care for infants, children, and young people with complex conditions affecting the brain and nervous system. Known for his compassionate approach, Dr Varthalitis works closely with patients and their families to deliver personalised, reassuring care throughout every stage of assessment and treatment.

Dr Varthalitis completed his foundational neurosurgical training in Athens before moving to the United Kingdom to undertake advanced sub-specialist fellowship training in paediatric neurosurgery. Furthering his academic commitment to healthcare leadership and international medicine, he holds three Master's degrees focusing on Emergency Prehospital Medicine and International Medicine, Health Crisis Management, and Health Care Management. Demonstrating a lifelong commitment to humanitarian service, Dr Varthalitis has been an active member of Médecins Sans Frontières, where he previously served as General Secretary for the organisation's Greek section.

In his clinical practice, Dr Varthalitis specialises in a broad range of paediatric neurosurgical interventions, with particular focus on neuro-oncology, neurovascular conditions, and neuro-endoscopy. He is highly experienced in utilising minimally invasive surgical techniques, including endoscopic third ventriculostomy and endoscopic cyst fenestration, alongside procedures for brain tumours, hydrocephalus, and neurological trauma.
