I did not realise how much pain & discomfort I was in until I had the operation. Since having the operation I am able to walk as much as I want without any discomfort & my physical condition is gradually returning to normal. I am glad I had the operation, I should have had it done earlier rather than struggling through. I would recommend Mr Leach to anyone needing a similar procedure Thanks Stuart
Mr Leach performed a surgery to remove a tumour from my spine. Mr Leach was, at every stage, professional, helpful and transparent.
Everything went smoothly, from the initial consultation to the time of my discharge. A very confident, skilled surgeon and skilled team around me at this time filled me with confidence. The communications throughout the period were excellent. Advice about being as fit as possible pre op certainly helped me towards a faster recovery.
Mr Leach was absolutely fantastic from the moment I stepped into his office. After months of suffering and multiple GP and hospital visits, I’d become increasingly worried as severe neurological pain set in and my mobility rapidly deteriorated. Following my MRI, John immediately recognised the seriousness of my disc herniation and the level of pain I was experiencing. For the first time, I felt truly heard and understood. Within two days of our consultation, I underwent urgent surgery for a severe far-lateral herniated disc. The operation went extremely well, and John explained that the herniation was beyond the point of rehabilitation. The disc was severely compressing my L4/L5 nerve, causing significant muscle wastage and neurological pain that was difficult to control, despite the strong pain relief I was taking daily. After surgery, John set realistic expectations for my recovery — and it’s worth noting that I was wheeled into hospital, but I walked out the very next day. I’m pleased to say that, ten weeks on, I completed my first four-mile hike without any significant discomfort. I still have some nerve pain and numbness, but my mobility has improved dramatically.
Totally delighted with the outcome of my decompression surgery (for severe bilateral stenosis). My life has been ‘turned around’ by the surgery, and I have been able to resume my physical activities - in particular, walking, which is a big part of my life for fitness and happiness. I am looking forward also to resuming my dancing. Thank Mr Leach.
I had a microdiskectomy performed by John Leach. Whilst I was nervous in the lead-up to the operation as there are no guarantees, it has gone perfectly to plan. I did find out that I was a low-risk patient when I visited for the pre-operation and it would have been useful if this would have been mentioned earlier on, and also provided with further clarity on how that changes the risk profile.
I would highly recommend Mr John Leach, an exceptional Consultant Neurosurgeon with extensive experience in the assessment and surgical management of spinal and neurosurgical conditions. Mr Leach combines outstanding clinical expertise with a thoughtful, evidence‑based approach. He is particularly skilled in spinal surgery — including cervical disc replacement, decompression, fusion and treatment of spinal tumours and is known for his clear communication and supportive care throughout the patient journey. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to patients seeking expert neurosurgical...
