Dr Deborah Tweddle

Dr Deborah Tweddle is a Consultant Paediatric Oncologist who provides expert and reassuring care to children and young people facing complex oncological conditions. As a Professor of Paediatric Oncology and an Honorary Consultant in Paediatric and Adolescent Oncology, she blends clinical practice with leading-edge medical research to offer comprehensive, high-quality care to her young patients and their families.

Dr Tweddle has a dedicated clinical interest in childhood neuroblastoma, solid tumours, and relapsed cancers. Her work spans molecular diagnostics, targeted biological therapies, and clinical trials designed to improve treatment strategies for high-risk conditions. She also serves as a Scientific Director for paediatric biobanking initiatives, supporting national research efforts to develop personalised cancer therapies for young patients.

Dr Tweddle began her medical education at the University of Manchester, earning a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Experimental Immunology and Oncology in 1988, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) with Honours in 1991. She subsequently completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2002. Dr Tweddle qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and Paediatrics and Child Health in 1994 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2005. Her professional memberships include the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the United Kingdom Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group.
