Dr David Beaton

Dr David Beaton is a highly dedicated Consultant Gastroenterologist who specialises in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of digestive system disorders. With a strong clinical focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and advanced endoscopy, he is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. Dr Beaton works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and tailored treatment plans for their gastrointestinal health.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Beaton is deeply involved in medical research and quality improvement initiatives. He has a particular interest in enhancing the standards of endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures, having served in national clinical leadership roles focused on endoscopy databases and quality assurance. His research contributions, which include extensive work on colorectal cancer screening and triage pathways, have been recognised nationally, reflecting his commitment to improving patient safety and procedural outcomes.

Dr Beaton completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Dundee, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2010. He subsequently undertook his foundation and core speciality training in Scotland before moving to the North East of England to complete his higher speciality training in Gastroenterology. To further his academic and clinical expertise, he obtained a Master of Science (MSc) from the University of Glasgow and pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Population Health Sciences at Newcastle University. Dr Beaton is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (London), having joined in 2015, and is an active member of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
