Dr Devan Vani is a consultant physician and gastroenterologist at Spire Methley Park Hospital and Harrogate District Hospital where he specialises in flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, gastroscopy, liver tests, and inflammatory bowel disorders. He has particular experience of performing colonoscopies in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and in the endoscopic treatment of upper GI tract bleeding, carrying out more than 500 of these procedures each year.

Dr Vani first qualified in India in 1990 before going on to complete an MD in general medicine. He then came to the UK where he completed his specialist gastroenterology training in Yorkshire and spent over two years at St James University Hospital working in the liver transport unit. Dr Vani has since held a number of consultant posts within the NHS including Clinical Lead in Hepatology, Clinical Lead in IBD, and Service Development Lead. He is also actively involved in research and has published a number of articles in the field of gastroenterology. His current research topic is inflammatory bowel disease, and he is the principal investigator for more than four ongoing projects, both national and international.

Dr Vani is also involved in medical education and regularly presents at GP education seminars and training events.
