Dr Christopher Wood

Dr Christopher Wood is a dedicated Consultant General Surgeon and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon who provides empathetic, patient-centred care. He focuses on the comprehensive management of complex gastrointestinal and abdominal conditions, ensuring that each individual receives a tailored, evidence-based treatment plan. Working closely alongside multidisciplinary healthcare teams, Dr Wood is committed to guiding patients through every stage of their surgical journey with clarity and reassurance.

His clinical practice spans a wide range of general and lower gastrointestinal surgical procedures. Dr Wood has a primary clinical focus on complex primary and redo abdominal surgery for inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal failure. His expertise also includes minimally invasive colorectal surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction, and the surgical management of colorectal cancer. Additionally, he contributes specialist surgical support for complex pelvic endometriosis and exenterative oncology cases, while routinely providing diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy services.

Dr Wood completed his undergraduate medical studies at the University of Cambridge and Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Medical School. He subsequently completed higher surgical training and undertook advanced fellowship training in complex inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure, and surgical oncology. Dedicated to advancing medical pedagogy and training standards, he holds a Master's degree in Surgical Education from Imperial College London and is a JAG-accredited trainer in colonoscopy.
