Dr Chris Jones

Dr Chris Jones has been a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and St Luke’s Cancer Centre in Guildford, UK, since 2013. He specialises in anaesthesia for major oncology procedures and is passionate about perioperative medicine and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS).

Dr Jones completed his anaesthetic training at St George’s Hospital in London, followed by advanced specialist training in several areas: high-risk and major oncology anaesthesia at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, paediatric intensive care at Evelina and St George’s Hospitals, liver anaesthesia at King’s College Hospital, and prehospital care in Sydney, Australia.

His clinical interests include anaesthesia for complex surgical procedures in hepatobiliary (HPB), oesophagogastric (OG), and major urological oncology. He has contributed significantly to the development of ERAS® protocols for liver and major urology surgeries, including robotic cystectomy.

Dr Jones was awarded an MD (Res) from the University of Surrey in 2015 for his research on enhanced recovery following open liver resection. He has published extensively in the field and has lectured on ERAS and perioperative medicine at national and international conferences. He also served as a module lead for the MSc in Perioperative Medicine at University College London.
