Dr Chandrima Biswas

Dr Chandrima Biswas is a highly regarded Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who is dedicated to providing exceptional, individualised care to women. With a clinical focus on high-risk obstetric care and intrapartum management, she is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of both mothers and their babies during pregnancy and childbirth. Her clinical interests also encompass maternal obesity in obstetrics, foetal monitoring, and the strategic improvement of maternity services.

Throughout her distinguished career, Dr Biswas has held several senior leadership positions, including serving as a Clinical Director and leading regional maternity quality initiatives. She has also contributed significantly to national maternity safety programmes, focusing on the continuous improvement of perinatal care. In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, she is a published author and editor-in-chief of a prominent pregnancy encyclopaedia, sharing her extensive knowledge to guide expectant parents through their pregnancy journeys.

Dr Biswas graduated from the University of London in 1992, obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Committed to continuous professional development, she became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 1999 and was awarded a Fellowship (FRCOG) in 2021. Additionally, she holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Patient Safety, completed with distinction, from the University of Oxford. She is also a former President of the Maternity and Newborn Forum of the Royal Society of Medicine.
