Dr Catherine Hearnshaw is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician specialising in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. She offers compassionate, expert care for infants, children, and young people experiencing acute medical illnesses and urgent health conditions. Understanding how distressing emergency clinical situations can be for families, Dr Hearnshaw combines rapid clinical decision-making with a reassuring approach, ensuring young patients receive safe, high-quality treatment.

Her practice encompasses the full breadth of acute paediatric emergency care, with specialised expertise in resuscitation, severe infection management, and urgent clinical assessments. Dr Hearnshaw holds key clinical leadership roles, serving as Lead for Sepsis and Child Death Lead, reflecting her dedication to clinical governance, patient safety, and high care standards. Her clinical interests also include medical education, staff well-being, and advanced point-of-care diagnostic tools designed to accelerate infection diagnosis in urgent settings.

Dr Hearnshaw completed her Core Paediatric training in the West Midlands before working as a Teaching Fellow in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. She subsequently completed official Grid sub-specialty training in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. She holds professional membership with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and regularly engages in ongoing clinical audit, postgraduate teaching, and emergency care training.
