Dr Beverley Almeida

Dr Beverley Almeida is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologist who specialises in diagnosing and managing a wide range of inflammatory and non-inflammatory musculoskeletal conditions in children and young people. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, she is committed to delivering comprehensive care for complex autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases. Her clinical practice focuses on providing holistic support to young patients and their families, ensuring they receive the highest standard of treatment tailored to their unique needs.

Her areas of clinical interest encompass a broad spectrum of paediatric rheumatological disorders, including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, juvenile dermatomyositis, scleroderma, and Behçet's syndrome. Dr Almeida is particularly skilled in managing rare autoinflammatory conditions, periodic fever syndromes, and chronic musculoskeletal pain. She is proficient in performing specialised clinical procedures, such as intra-articular steroid injections, to help alleviate joint pain and improve mobility in her young patients. Additionally, she plays an active role in clinical governance, serving as a Clinical Governance Lead to ensure the safety and effectiveness of patient care pathways.

Dr Almeida completed her medical training at the University of Nottingham, where she earned a Bachelor of Medical Sciences with Honours and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. She furthered her academic pursuits by obtaining a Master of Science from University College London. She is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. Demonstrating her commitment to advancing the field of paediatric medicine, she serves as the Co-Chair of the Paediatric Rheumatology College Specialty Advisory Committee at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, where she helps supervise training and assessment standards for future Paediatric Rheumatologists.
