Mr Austen Thornton Smith

Mr Austen Thornton Smith is a highly experienced Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon.

They are a senior Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Consultant and an elected member of the Specialty Advisory Committee that manages Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist Training within the UK. They represent the British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) and the speciality on the Training Interface Group, which governs super-specialist areas in the head and neck.

Mr Smith regularly participates in recruitment panels for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Head & Neck training. They are currently rewriting the syllabus for Head & Neck specialist training in the UK and have input to National Expert Working Groups in Head & Neck and Dentistry.

Mr Smith contributes to UK National coding of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Head & Neck procedures and is on the Surgical Specialty Board of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. They have taught at regional, national and international levels for a number of years.
