Dr. Audrienne Sammut is a highly regarded consultant in neonatal medicine, serving at both the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing at University College London Hospital (UCLH) and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Her medical journey began at the University of Malta, where she obtained her MD, Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, from 2005 to 2010.

Following her education, Dr. Sammut pursued specialisation in neonatology, training at Cambridge University Hospitals and completing a fellowship in neonatal medicine at the Evelina Children’s Hospital. In 2020, she was appointed as a neonatal consultant at UCLH.

As a dedicated professional, Dr. Sammut focuses her efforts on enhancing the care and outcomes for premature babies. She holds the position of preterm care lead at UCLH and is actively involved in projects aimed at improving neurodevelopmental outcomes, particularly in the realm of neuroprotection for premature infants.

Dr. Sammut is also engaged in leadership roles within the field. She co-leads the neonatal clinical guideline development group at UCLH and collaborates with GOSH to establish joint guidelines, ensuring standardised care for patients across both institutions.

Moreover, Dr. Sammut contributes to advancing neonatal neurodevelopmental care on a national level as the co-lead of the clinical service provision stream at the British Association for Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow Up (BANNFU) group. Her work involves developing national surveys and setting standards across various disciplines.

In recognition of her dedication to education, she has achieved Associate Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and obtained her Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) in 2014.
