Dr Araz Al-Saffar

Dr Araz Al-Saffar is a highly dedicated Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist who specialises in the comprehensive management of endocrine disorders and diabetes. With a patient-centred approach, he is committed to delivering evidence-based, high-quality care tailored to the unique needs of each individual. His clinical practice encompasses a broad spectrum of conditions, with a particular focus on type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and complex hormonal imbalances.

In addition to general diabetes care, Dr Al-Saffar has a deep clinical interest in metabolic health, growth hormone disorders, and adrenal conditions. He is actively involved in managing rare endocrine malignancies, such as adrenocortical carcinoma, and works closely within multidisciplinary teams to coordinate advanced treatment pathways. His dedication to the field is further demonstrated by his active involvement in clinical research, where he has published studies investigating the relationship between insulin resistance, glycaemic control, and growth hormones.

Dr Al-Saffar obtained his medical degree from Al-Nahrain University in Baghdad, where he also served as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer, sharing his expertise with the next generation of medical professionals. He further refined his clinical training through the prestigious Medical Training Initiative programme with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Demonstrating his commitment to advancing clinical standards, he is an active member of the Society for Endocrinology, serving on the Clinical Practice Working Group, and contributes to the Research Committee of the UK and Ireland Neuroendocrine Tumour Society.
