Dr. Anthony Cartwright

Dr Anthony Cartwright is a highly experienced Consultant Anaesthetist and the Medical Director at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Plymouth. After graduating from Sheffield University Medical School in 1995, he served as a medical officer in the Royal Air Force before completing his anaesthetic training in the NHS, earning his Consultant position in 2010. Dr Cartwright's career has spanned the NHS and international practice, with a decade spent in the Middle East, where he played a key role in commissioning one of the world’s most advanced hospitals and leading innovations in treatment modalities.

His special interests lie in regional anaesthesia, anaesthesia for head and neck surgery, and the application of Health Informatics to improve patient safety. Dr Cartwright is passionate about leveraging AI and computer solutions to optimise patient care and enhance safety, focusing on personalised and patient-centred treatment.

Dr Cartwright holds a Master of Science in Health Informatics and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. He is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Chartered Institute for IT. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys competitive road cycling, repairing music synthesisers as well as writing and producing music.
