Mr Andrew Smith

I have been a Consultant Colectoral Surgeon in Bristol since 2017. I qualified from Imperial College in 2002 and undertook surgical training in London including a fellowship at St Mark's Hospital in surgery for inflammatory bowel disease.

I treat cancer of the bowel as well as benign conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and diverticular disease. I trained in laparoscopic surgery and perform most bowel operations with a keyhole technique. I treat anal problems such as skin tags, haemorrhoids and fissures as well as all types of hernia both with and open and laparoscopic technique.

I am the lead for clinical governance in the surgical division at North Bristol Trust and have a particular interest in quality improvement and patient safety. In addition to my role in Bristol I formerly served as a Consultant in the Armed Forces.
