Dr Andrew Boulton

Dr Andrew Boulton is a highly distinguished Consultant Physician and Professor of Medicine specialising in Endocrinology & Diabetes. With a career dedicated to clinical excellence, research, and education, he is globally recognised for his expertise in diabetes and its associated complications. Dr Boulton provides comprehensive care for patients, focusing on the management of complex diabetic conditions, particularly diabetic neuropathy and lower limb complications. Throughout his illustrious career, Dr Boulton has held numerous prestigious leadership roles within the international medical community. Additionally, he was the founding Chairman of the Diabetic Foot Study Group. As a leading authority in his field, he has authored hundreds of peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, focusing primarily on diabetic renal and lower limb complications. Dr Boulton completed his medical degree with honours at a prestigious university in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, qualifying in 1976. He went on to obtain his Doctor of Medicine degree, specialising in the complications of diabetes, from the same institution in 1985. His postgraduate clinical training was undertaken across several renowned centres in the United Kingdom and the United States. Dr Boulton obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1979 and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1992. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Indian College of Physicians, and he remains actively involved in training and mentoring the next generation of medical professionals.
