Dr Rupinder Singh Kochhar is a consultant endocrinologist based at Salford Royal Hospital and has his private practice based at The Beaumont Hospital in Bolton.
Dr Kochhar gained his primary medical qualification; MBBS from the University of Delhi in 2005. He subsequently completed MD in Internal Medicine from University of Delhi in 2009.
He moved to the United Kingdom in 2012 and joined as a specialist registrar in Diabetes & Endocrinology at Weston General Hospital in Somerset. He later joined Good Hope Hospital as a clinical fellow in Endocrinology before moving to Northwest where he joined higher speciality training in Diabetes & Endocrinology, Health Education England. During his training he rotated through all the tertiary teaching hospitals in the Northwest. He completed specilaist training in 2019 and joined as a consultant endocrinologist at the Lancashire Teaching NHS Foundation Trust from November 2019 to January 2023. He has joined Salford Care Organisation, Norther Care Alliance as a consultant endocrinologist from February 2023.
He has a keen interest in medical education and holds the post of “Honorary Clinical Senior Teaching Fellow” with University of Manchester. During his tenure at Lancashire Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, he was appointed as the Royal College Tutor and was in charge for post graduate medical education programme for the trust. He is also a nominated supervisor for medical students and junior doctors.

He also has a particular interests in the management of hypogonadism male (testosterone deficiency) and female hypogonadism (pre-mature menopause). Additionally, he is experienced in weight management including the use of GLP1 analogues, diabetes, and its complications. He treats both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and has expertise in diabetes technology such as continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pumps. He is the current lead for the young person diabetes service, and he also runs the insulin pump service.
He is fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi.

Dr Kochhar I have suffered severe trauma in my life time and had developed CPTSD and have been diagnosed by my GP with hypothyroidism for approximately 4 years Even though I was taking l levothyroxine I was still symptomatic. Dr kochhar was the first Dr I have seen who made me feel heard. He made me feel safe and in expert hands. He was kind, caring and explained everything to me in a way I could understand. I walked out feeling a great sence of relief that I am in safe hands.
