Dr Andrew Beggs

Dr Andrew Beggs is a highly accomplished Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon who specialises in laparoscopic cancer surgery and the management of complex colorectal conditions. He provides expert care for patients experiencing a wide range of bowel and pelvic floor disorders, combining advanced surgical techniques with a deep understanding of cancer genetics. Dr Beggs is dedicated to delivering personalised, patient-centred care, ensuring that individuals receive the most effective and reassuring treatment pathways for their specific conditions.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Beggs is a prominent academic and researcher, holding a position as a Professor of Cancer Genetics and Surgery. His pioneering research focuses on the molecular determinants of cancer treatments, utilising advanced genome sequencing and organoid models to improve patient outcomes. He has contributed extensively to medical literature, publishing numerous articles in leading scientific journals and collaborating on international consensus guidelines for rare genetic syndromes. Dr Beggs completed his undergraduate medical training in London, qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2003, having previously obtained a Bachelor of Science with Honours in 2000. He went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cancer Genetics in 2011. Dr Beggs achieved his Certificate of Completion of Training in General Surgery and Coloproctology in 2016. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS). He also holds professional membership with the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.
