Mr Lalit Kumar

Mr Lalit Kumar is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon with over 20 years of surgical experience, specialising in colorectal cancer, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and endoscopy. His clinical interests include colon and rectal cancer, groin, abdominal wall and incisional hernias, gallbladder disease, haemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas and pilonidal disease. He routinely performs robotic and laparoscopic colorectal and general surgical procedures, including bowel resections, hernia repairs and gallbladder surgery.

Mr Kumar completed advanced robotic surgery fellowship training at CHU Bordeaux in France and Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. His training included robotic TME, beyond-TME surgery, organ preservation, intersphincteric resection and TEMS. He is also JAG-accredited in colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy and performs therapeutic endoscopy, including polyp removal.

Mr Kumar holds a research doctorate from University College London, where his research focused on anal canal function and pelvic floor disorders. He has published 15 peer-reviewed publications, including original research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and has contributed a book chapter on abdominopelvic pain. He has also presented research on robotic surgery, rectal cancer, pelvic floor disorders and endoscopy at international surgical conferences.

Mr Kumar is involved in surgical education and trains surgeons on Royal College of Surgeons courses. He is a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI).
