Dr Andrew Barritt

Dr Andrew Barritt is a highly dedicated Consultant Neurologist who provides expert care for patients experiencing a wide range of neurological conditions. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, he specialises in general neurology, with a particular clinical interest in neurodegenerative disorders, including motor neurone disease (MND) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He is committed to delivering comprehensive, compassionate care, helping patients and their families navigate complex diagnoses with clarity and support.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Barritt is actively involved in pioneering medical research. His academic interests focus on utilising advanced magnetic resonance neuroimaging techniques to better understand the mechanisms of neurodegeneration. He has contributed significantly to the scientific community through numerous peer-reviewed publications and clinical trials, aiming to translate cutting-edge research into improved outcomes and innovative treatments for his patients.

Dr Barritt completed his medical training at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine, where he also undertook an intercalated Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, graduating with his primary medical degree in 2007. He subsequently completed his higher specialist training in Neurology at renowned neurological centres. Furthering his academic expertise, he was awarded a PhD from the University of Brighton in 2020 for his research into neuroimaging in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK) in Neurology.
