Dr Andrew (AJ) Stephenson

Dr Andrew (AJ) Stephenson is an accomplished Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in reconstructive, cosmetic, and skin cancer surgery. Committed to delivering reassuring, patient-focused care, Dr Stephenson works collaboratively with patients to formulate personalised treatment strategies tailored to their individual needs. His approach combines clinical precision with a thorough understanding of aesthetic and reconstructive techniques, ensuring that patient safety, comfort, and restorative outcomes remain at the forefront of every procedure.

A major focus of Dr Stephenson’s practice is the comprehensive management of skin cancer and complex soft tissue reconstruction. Having served as a Lead Clinician for a regional Specialist Skin Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team, he possesses extensive expertise in diagnosing and surgically removing both benign and malignant skin lesions, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. His surgical repertoire includes advanced reconstructive techniques such as local flap closure, skin grafting, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and lymph node dissection. Additionally, Dr Stephenson provides specialist management for scar correction, burn recovery, ear-pinning surgery (pinnaplasty), lip lesion excision, and male chest reduction surgery (gynaecomastia surgery).

Dr Stephenson completed his medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Birmingham and earned a postgraduate Master of Philosophy (MPhil). He completed extensive higher specialist training in Plastic Surgery across leading clinical centres in Sheffield, Cambridge, Norwich, London, and Auckland, New Zealand. Dr Stephenson holds Fellowships in general surgery and plastic surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS Glasg and FRCS Glasg (Plast)). To maintain the highest standards of professional practice, he holds active memberships in professional bodies including the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons and the British Burns Association.
