Dr. Anastasios Lavaris

Mr Anastasios Lavaris is a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in complex glaucoma and cataract surgery. He currently serves as the Glaucoma Service Lead at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust and provides private consultations at Benenden Hospital. Having trained extensively in both Greece and the UK, he completed prestigious subspecialty fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Over the course of his career, he has performed more than 1,000 independent cataract and glaucoma procedures, demonstrating particular expertise in combined cataract-glaucoma surgery, glaucoma drainage devices, and advanced micro-surgical techniques.

Mr Lavaris is deeply committed to ophthalmic research and academic excellence. He holds a PhD in Ophthalmology for his doctoral research into the genetic background of primary open-angle glaucoma, is a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators, actively leads clinical teaching, and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications in international medical journals. Mr Lavaris remains dedicated to delivering personalised, evidence-based care using the latest techniques, including Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), to achieve the highest standards of vision restoration and long-term eye health for his patients.
