Dr Amina Khanam

Dr Amina Khanam is an experienced Consultant Endocrinologist and Consultant Diabetologist who provides compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals living with endocrine and metabolic conditions. She specialises in managing complex Type 2 diabetes, offering tailored care plans for patients who face difficulties in achieving optimal glycaemic control. Dr Khanam takes a patient-centred and holistic approach, working collaboratively with patients to support their long-term health and well-being.

In addition to diabetes care, Dr Khanam possesses extensive expertise across a wide range of endocrine disorders. Her clinical practice encompasses thyroid and pituitary conditions, autoimmune thyroid disorders such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves' disease, adrenal disorders, and male hypogonadism. She also has a dedicated focus in reproductive endocrinology, providing specialised management for conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Furthermore, in her role as a Lead Bariatric Physician, she guides patients through medical weight management programmes, GLP-1 therapies, and the monitoring of post-bariatric surgery complications, including dumping syndrome and nutritional deficiencies.

Dr Khanam completed her medical degree at Bart's and The London School of Medicine, followed by advanced specialist training in Diabetes and Endocrinology in South East London. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and holds the Specialty Certificate Examination in Diabetes and Endocrinology. Alongside her clinical duties, Dr Khanam is deeply committed to medical education and serves as a Clinical Supervisor for junior doctors, earning recognition for her guidance and dedication to training the next generation of healthcare professionals.
