Dr Alexandra Fonfe

Dr Alexandra Fonfe is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician and Consultant in Neonatal Medicine who provides comprehensive medical care for infants, newborns, and young children. She delivers compassionate, patient-focused care tailored to the unique clinical needs of newborns and their families, ensuring that young patients receive attentive, high-quality, and evidence-based treatment. Working closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams, Dr Fonfe is committed to supporting children and their parents during vital early stages of health and development.

Her primary areas of clinical expertise focus on neonatal intensive care, high-dependency baby care, and special care management for premature or acutely unwell infants. Dr Fonfe holds a special interest in family-integrated care models, which empower parents to take an active, central role in their newborn's care pathway, as well as the optimisation of early maternal breast milk for preterm babies. Furthermore, she is actively involved in clinical governance, audit projects, and quality improvement initiatives aimed at continually enhancing patient safety and neonatal standards.

Dr Fonfe obtained her medical qualification with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree, alongside a Postgraduate Diploma. Reflecting her commitment to high professional standards and continuous post-graduate training in child health, she is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). Her strong academic foundation and specialised post-graduate training inform her holistic and thorough approach to paediatric medicine.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Fonfe has demonstrated strong clinical leadership, having previously served as a Chief Registrar within paediatric services.
