Dr. Akhlaque Uddin

Dr. Akhlaque Uddin is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist who provides comprehensive, patient-centred cardiovascular care. He specialises in diagnosing and treating a broad range of heart conditions, with particular clinical expertise in coronary artery disease, structural heart disease, and complex cardiac symptoms. Taking a reassuring and methodical approach, Dr. Uddin focuses on clear communication and timely investigations to ensure each patient receives a personalised treatment plan tailored to their specific health needs.

Patients routinely consult Dr. Uddin for the assessment of symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness, and fatigue, as well as for the expert management of hypertension and atrial fibrillation. As a Specialist in invasive and minimally invasive cardiology, his procedural repertoire includes diagnostic coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty and stenting, physiological lesion assessment, intravascular imaging, patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Dr. Uddin graduated in medicine with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Leicester in 2004. He subsequently completed postgraduate clinical research, earning a Medical Doctorate (MD) from the University of Leeds in 2016, following his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2008. To further refine his interventional expertise, he undertook advanced subspecialist fellowship training in percutaneous coronary intervention and structural heart procedures both within the United Kingdom and internationally. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and holds active professional memberships with the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS), the British Cardiovascular Interventional Society (BCIS), and the British Medical Association (BMA).
