He has a specialist interest in investigating and treating all benign and cancerous disorders of the liver, pancreas and biliary-tract.
After qualifying from Imperial College London in 2003, he went on to gain an MSc in General Surgical Practice from the University of Kent in 2011, before returning to Imperial College London, where he was awarded a PhD in 2014 for his work on complex gene interactions in pancreatic cancer.
He underwent basic and higher surgical training in London and Surrey, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2018. He advanced his surgical skills training in laparoscopic / robotic HPB surgery at the Hammersmith and Royal Marsden Hospitals, and in liver transplantation at the Royal-Free Hospital, London. During his training he also undertook several international observerships to HPB units in both the USA (Johns Hopkins; University of Louisville) and Europe (Heidelberg, Germany; AMC, Amsterdam) to gain further experience in his field.

He currently serves as the Vice Chancellor's Fellow and Senior Lecturer in Surgical Oncology at University of Surrey where he leads a laboratory group and currently supervises BSc, MD(Res) and PhD students.
His current research includes investigating the molecular aspects of pancreatic, liver and biliary-tract cancers, including the development of clinically useful biomarkers and targeted anti-cancer treatments; understanding the tumour microenvironment and microbiome; and deciphering mechanisms of metastasis (cancer spread), topics on which he regularly publishes his findings in peer-reviewed journals. Indeed, he has published >120 research articles and has presented his findings both nationally and internationally.

I’m very grateful for the care I received from Prof. Adam Frampton during my robotic Whipple procedure. Being diagnosed with a pancreatic tumour at 35 was a huge shock. Throughout the process, Adam was knowledgeable and clear in explaining my options and the procedure itself, which made a difficult situation feel much more manageable. I appreciated being included in the decision-making and having the opportunity to ask the questions I needed to feel comfortable. With two small children at home, Adam arranged remote appointments where possible, which helped alleviate the stress of organising childcare and reduced the amount of time I had to spend away from my kids. The operation was successful, and the tumour was fully removed. I’ve made a speedy recovery and at four weeks post-op, I’m eating well and am back in the gym (gently of course). This was a daunting experience, but I felt well looked after and confident that I was in very capable hands throughout. I’m incredibly grateful for the expertise and care that made such a positive outcome possible.
I cannot thank Professor Frampton enough for the care I received throughout my treatment and surgery. From my first consultation, he was incredibly professional, knowledgeable and reassuring, whilst also being genuinely kind and approachable. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions thoroughly and made me feel completely comfortable and informed throughout the entire process. Naturally, I was nervous before surgery, however Professor Frampton’s calm and confident manner immediately put me at ease and gave me complete trust in his care. The operation itself went extremely well and my recovery has been far smoother than I expected, which is a real credit to his expertise and attention to detail. What stood out most to me was how supported and cared for I felt at every stage. I never felt rushed or dismissed, and I always felt that my concerns were listened to properly. The wider team were also fantastic, friendly, professional and supportive throughout. I honestly could not have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Professor Frampton to anyone considering treatment. He made a very daunting experience feel manageable from start to finish.
From the initial interview with Professor Frampton his friendly, clear and careful explanation of my situation and subsequent plan for treatment was reassuring. I felt very confident to proceed and the surgery was performed at the New Victoria Hospital. The hernia repairs went smoothly, the post-op care and follow-up were very thorough. I would not hesitate to recommend Professor Frampton, I am now pain free and feeling fine.
I recently had robotic surgery with Professor Frampton. The whole experience was exceptional from the initial consultations and clarity to the actual surgery. Surgery at The Cromwell and after care at Nuffield Guildford. The Professors expertise and knowledge gave great reassurance and the surgery was impressive, and extremely professional and caring throughout. I felt in very safe and sensible hands, with professionalism and communication throughout. Thank you Professor Frampton
I had a very positive experience with Prof. Adam Frampton for my inguinal hernia treatment. He was very professional, skilled and friendly. He explained to me how the operation will be and possible risks. The surgery was successful and recovery time is going well. He also called me the next day after surgery and asked me how I feel. For follow up I saw him three weeks later after surgery and he answered all my questions again. Many thanks Prof. Adam Frampton. I recommend him to anyone needing hernia treatment.
Professor Frampton provided a quick diagnosis and explained the proposed procedure very clearly. I had a robotic cholecystectomy which relieved my symptoms very quickly. The aftercare was excellent and having the procedure has improved my quality of life immensely. I have no hesitation in recommending him.
First class in every way. Top draw treatment and complete confidence on the Prof. Huge thanks.
Great surgeon, excellent bedside manner, very accessible and responsive. Absolutely wonderful and highly recommend.
I recently had my gallbladder removal surgery with Prof Frampton at Cromwell Hospital, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. He explained everything clearly and arranged my surgery quickly, which put my mind at ease. The robotic cholecystectomy went smoothly, and I'm recovering well two weeks post-op. He also checked in with a phone call follow-up and a face-to-face appointment two weeks after surgery - really appreciated the thorough care. Would definitely recommend Prof Frampton.
