Mr Abdul Syed

Mr Abdul Syed is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast and General Surgeon with over nine years of experience specialising in breast surgery. His work focuses on delivering comprehensive breast care services, including both cancer treatment and benign breast conditions. He is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals across Essex and the surrounding regions.

Mr Syed’s NHS practice is based at Southend University Hospital, where he provides outpatient consultations and performs a wide range of breast surgeries. He also works closely with the plastic surgery unit at Broomfield Hospital to support patients who require reconstructive breast procedures. Over the course of his career, he has performed more than 1,500 breast operations, including wide local excision for breast cancer, axillary lymph node biopsy and clearance, simple and skin-sparing mastectomy, mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction, and surgery for benign breast conditions.

He currently serves as Clinical Lead of the breast unit at Southend University Hospital and also holds the role of Clinical Director for Mid and South Essex breast services. In these leadership roles, he contributes to the development and delivery of high-quality breast care across the region.

Alongside his clinical responsibilities, Mr Syed is the Teaching Lead for the Department of Surgery at Southend University Hospital, supporting the education and training of junior doctors and surgical trainees.

In addition to his NHS work, Mr Syed offers private consultations and treatment at Spire Wellesley Hospital and Rivers Hospital, providing accessible specialist care for patients across Essex.
