Dr Veevek Thankey

Dr Veevek Thankey is a dedicated and compassionate dual Specialist in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine. He is deeply committed to delivering high-quality care to infants, children, and adolescents, with a particular focus on acute care paediatric medicine. Dr Thankey believes in a holistic and collaborative approach to healthcare, working closely with patients, families, carers, and the wider medical community to promote positive health outcomes and sound public health initiatives.

Prior to his medical career, Dr Thankey completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Sciences in Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary in Canada. He relocated to Australia to study medicine, graduating from the University of Queensland in 2008. He later completed a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine through James Cook University. In 2020, he achieved fellowships in both General Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Dr Thankey completed his foundational and advanced paediatric training at major tertiary paediatric hospitals in Queensland. He has gathered diverse clinical experience working in various metropolitan and remote paediatric units across Australia, as well as at a leading children's hospital in Canada, and currently serves as a Paediatric Emergency Physician in Brisbane. Alongside his clinical work, he is passionate about medical education, regularly instructing professional courses such as Advanced Paediatric Life Support and engaging in educational initiatives for the broader healthcare community.
