Dr. Gregory Finch is a highly experienced Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon with over 15 years of expertise in spinal surgery. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Auckland in 1992 and later earned his FRACS from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Melbourne in 2001. Dr. Finch underwent two and a half years of advanced fellowship training in Spinal Surgery, during which he gained specialised knowledge in a wide range of spinal conditions and surgical techniques.
His first fellowship was at the Shriners Children’s Hospital and Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, OR, USA, where he worked with renowned surgeons specialising in spinal deformity surgery and paediatric orthopaedics. Following this, he completed his second fellowship at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, UK, where he further honed his skills in microscopic spine surgery, minimally invasive techniques, and cervical and lumbar disc replacement surgeries. He also gained invaluable experience in treating spinal trauma, spinal tumours, and both adult and paediatric deformities.
Dr. Finch has held prestigious positions across Australia, including at Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, and Sunshine Coast Hospital. He currently operates his private practice on the Sunshine Coast at Nucleus Medical Suites, where he continues to focus on spinal surgery while also treating general orthopaedic trauma cases. His clinical interests include minimally invasive spinal surgery, cervical and lumbar disc replacement, spinal tumours, anterior spinal surgery, adult spinal deformity, and revision or salvage spinal surgery.
Known for his meticulous approach and patient-centred care, Dr. Finch is committed to improving his patients' quality of life through the use of cutting-edge surgical techniques and personalised treatment plans. He is a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and he is actively involved with several professional organisations, including the Spine Society of Australia, the North American Spine Society, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
