Dr Adam Coughlan is a Brisbane-based Orthopaedic Surgeon whose practice spans sports injuries, joint preservation and replacement, and trauma. He treats conditions affecting the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle, with particular interests in sports surgery involving the shoulder, knee, hamstring and ankle, as well as shoulder, hip and knee arthroplasty.
His medical career began with a degree in Biomedical Science in Rockhampton, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Queensland in 2008. Dr Coughlan then undertook specialist orthopaedic training across Queensland and gained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association in 2021.
Further subspecialist training took him to Paris for 18 months, where he worked at the Clinique du Sport and Chirurgie du Sport clinic. This fellowship provided additional experience in sports-related conditions of the shoulder, hamstrings, knee and ankle. Dr Coughlan has worked across regional and metropolitan hospitals in Queensland and the Northern Territory and currently holds public appointments at Princess Alexandra Hospital and Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital.
