Dr Alex Karatassas

Dr Alex Karatassas is a highly regarded General Surgeon and Colorectal Surgeon who is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centred care. With a strong focus on achieving optimal clinical outcomes, he specialises in a broad range of surgical procedures, particularly in the fields of colorectal health and minimally invasive surgery. Dr Karatassas completed his medical training at the University of Adelaide, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1984. He subsequently obtained a Master of Surgery (MS) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). Demonstrating a strong commitment to medical education and research, he serves as an Associate Professor for the Masters of Minimally Invasive Surgery course at the University of Adelaide and holds a position as a Senior Surgeon within a major colorectal unit. He is also actively involved in clinical research, contributing to advancements in surgical techniques and patient care.

In his clinical practice, Dr Karatassas has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including both laparoscopic and robotic procedures.
