Dr William Gelson

Dr William Gelson is an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist and Consultant Hepatologist who specialises in the diagnosis and management of complex digestive and liver disorders. He provides thorough, patient-centred care for individuals presenting with a wide range of gastrointestinal and hepatic conditions, ensuring each patient receives clear guidance and an individualised treatment plan.

Dr Gelson completed his medical training in East Anglia and subsequently undertook a Doctor of Medicine research degree at the University of Cambridge. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and holds professional accreditations with the British Society of Gastroenterology and the British Association for the Study of the Liver.

In his clinical practice, Dr Gelson focuses on the investigation and management of viral hepatitis, biliary tract disease, liver cirrhosis, and liver transplantation care. He has led key regional initiatives aimed at improving the detection and eradication of viral hepatitis, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive medical therapies and procedural interventions, such as paracentesis and ascitic drainage.
