Dr Unni Krishnan is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist currently practising at Royal Papworth Hospital. He completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Calicut, Kerala, in 2001, followed by MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians, London in 2003. His specialist cardiology training took place in Liverpool and Cambridge, with further academic development through a PhD in coronary atherosclerosis from the University of Leicester. His research was supported by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), the British Heart Foundation (BHF), and the European Union's Sixth Framework Programme (EU FP6).
Dr Krishnan is certified in Cardiology by the British Cardiovascular Society and holds Level 2 accreditation in Cardiac CT from the British Society of Cardiac CT. He also holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Cardiology and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Cambridge.
His clinical expertise includes coronary angioplasty and stenting, acute management of heart attacks and unstable coronary syndromes, and long-term care for patients with stable coronary artery disease. He is also involved in coordinating multidisciplinary care post-angioplasty. In addition, he serves as the education lead for the cardiology department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate medical training.
