Dr Tomoki Arichi

Dr Tomoki Arichi is a highly accomplished Consultant Paediatrician who specialises in Paediatric Neurodisability. With a clinical focus on the early identification and management of neurodevelopmental difficulties, Dr Arichi is dedicated to supporting children who have experienced brain injuries around the time of birth. His reassuring and patient-centred approach ensures that families receive comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to the long-term needs of their children.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Arichi is a leading academic and researcher in perinatal neuroscience. He is deeply involved in developing and applying advanced, non-invasive neuroimaging techniques, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG), to better understand early human brain development. His pioneering work includes the development of innovative virtual reality systems designed to make MRI scans a comfortable and engaging experience for young children, helping to identify conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and cerebral palsy at an early stage.

Dr Arichi began his medical journey at the University of Birmingham, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2001. During his medical training, he also completed an intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Neuroscience at University College London in 1999. He later earned a PhD from Imperial College London in 2012, focusing on the optimisation of functional MRI techniques for studying the newborn brain. Dr Arichi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), reflecting his commitment to clinical excellence and medical education.
