Mrs Susanna Boytha

Dr. Susanna Boytha is a highly accomplished Consultant Ophthalmologist who specialises in Refractive Surgery and laser vision correction. With extensive clinical experience in the field of Ophthalmology, she is dedicated to providing patients with exceptional care and advanced treatment options to improve their vision. Dr. Boytha has a particular clinical interest in laser eye surgery, cornea and cataract surgery, and medical retina services, helping patients achieve optimal visual outcomes through highly personalised treatment plans.

Dr. Boytha's academic foundation is exceptionally strong, having earned two Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees from leading international institutions: Semmelweis University of General Medicine and the University of Medicine and Surgery of Genoa. She went on to specialise in Ophthalmology, receiving her Diploma of Ophthalmology in 1990. After moving to the United Kingdom, she completed a prestigious fellowship in Cornea and Cataract Surgery in West Sussex. Dr. Boytha became a Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (MRCOphth) in 2001, subsequently obtaining her Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2005 and her Certificate of Laser Refractive Surgery in 2008. She is also an active member of the British Society for Refractive Surgery (BSRS) and the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM).

Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Boytha has held several key positions within the National Health Service (NHS), serving as a Specialist in Ophthalmology and later as a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Clinical Lead for medical retina services. As a Scottish Quality and Safety Fellow, she has designed and led multiple service development projects aimed at enhancing patient care and satisfaction. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Boytha is deeply committed to medical education, regularly teaching Medical Students, Junior Ophthalmologists, Ophthalmic Nurses, and Optometrists. She frequently attends international conferences to ensure her practice remains at the forefront of the latest advancements in ophthalmic care.
