Dr Sujatha Thamban

Dr Sujatha Thamban is a dedicated Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist specialising in comprehensive women's healthcare. With a focus on patient-centred clinical care, she provides expert support for women across all stages of pregnancy, labour, and gynaecological health. In addition to her clinical commitments, Dr Thamban holds major executive leadership roles, serving as a Divisional Director and previously as a Director of Medical Education, where she leads clinical service improvements and supports the professional development of postgraduate medical trainees.

Dr Thamban completed her specialist clinical training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and holds professional accreditation as a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG). Committed to advancing clinical standards and evidence-based practice, she actively contributes to national medical research as a Chief Investigator and Principal Investigator for portfolio clinical trials. She is also deeply engaged in clinical governance, medical education, and quality assurance within women's healthcare services.

Her clinical practice encompasses a wide range of sub-specialties, with particular expertise in obstetric medicine, high-risk maternity care, and perinatal mental health. Dr Thamban successfully established a dedicated Perinatal Mental Health service tailored to supporting vulnerable expectant mothers through pregnancy and early motherhood. Furthermore, she leads a specialist vulval service, providing expert management for vulval dermatoses and gynaecological skin conditions alongside general gynaecology consultations and outpatient hysteroscopy procedures.
