Dr Steven McVea

Dr Steven McVea is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatric Intensivist who specialises in Paediatrics and the care of critically ill or injured children. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, he is committed to delivering exceptional emergency and intensive clinical care to young patients during crucial moments. Dr McVea collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that infants, children, and young people receive prompt, evidence-based resuscitation, stabilisation, and high-quality critical care management.

Dr McVea's clinical interests encompass paediatric intensive care, emergency airway management, and paediatric retrieval and transport medicine. He possesses expertise in managing acute paediatric emergencies, including severe respiratory distress, acute asthma, bronchiolitis, and complex physiological deterioration. In addition to his direct clinical responsibilities, Dr McVea is deeply invested in leveraging digital health solutions and clinical information technology to enhance emergency prescribing accuracy and patient safety across critical care environments.

Dr McVea earned his primary medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of the Art of Obstetrics (MB BCh BAO). He completed advanced specialist training in paediatric critical care and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education (PGCCE). Dr McVea is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH), reflecting his adherence to the highest standards of clinical excellence, education, and professional development in child health.
