Dr Stella Hornby

Dr Stella Hornby is a highly regarded Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in primary care and emergency eye care. She is dedicated to delivering patient-centred, reassuring medical care for individuals experiencing acute and chronic visual conditions. Her clinical practice focuses on diagnosing and managing a wide spectrum of ocular health issues, ensuring that patients receive timely assessments and appropriate treatment plans tailored to their individual needs.

Dr Hornby completed her medical degree and Master of Arts at Clare College, Cambridge. She subsequently conducted extensive postgraduate clinical research on childhood blindness in India, for which she was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree and academic distinction from Cambridge University. Following her university education, she completed specialist registrar training in ophthalmology and attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

In her daily practice, Dr Hornby maintains a strong clinical focus on primary care ophthalmology, emergency eye care, low vision, and diabetic retinopathy. Alongside her clinical duties, she is an active Clinical Educator, mentor, and appraiser who leads educational programmes designed to train healthcare professionals in the prompt assessment and effective management of common and urgent eye problems.
