Professor Dominik Fischer is an award winning surgeon based at the Oxford Eye Hospital and The Manor Hospital, Oxford.
He is appointed Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Oxford and holds further teaching positions as Professor at the University of Tübingen, Germany and University of Lausanne, Switzerland.
He is the recipient of over 25 awards including the L. Klein Award for the advancement of vitreoretinal surery and the Senator H. Wacker Award for his contribution to the understanding of retinal and choroidal disease.
His position as key opinion leader in the field is reflected by his appointment on several advisory boards of patient organisations, biotech and pharmaceutical industry.
He receives invitations to teach courses at the Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA), is member of the Daily Center External Advisory Committee (Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, USA) and teaches at the European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology. He also serves as editorial board member at several scientific journals.
His main interest is general Ophthalmology, cataract and retinal surgery and genetic eye disorders. He often sees international patients (virtual or face to face).
