Dr. Sophie Pattison

Dr Sophie Pattison is a highly specialised Consultant Radiologist whose clinical practice is rooted in a unique combination of surgical and radiological expertise. After graduating from the University of Bristol in 1997, she initially pursued intensive surgical training, during which she developed a deep interest in breast surgery and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons. This foundational experience provides her with a distinctive perspective on the clinical pathways and diagnostic needs of surgical patients. She subsequently became a lecturer in patient safety before undertaking specialist radiological training at University College London Hospital, where she developed her expertise in breast imaging and was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist in 2014.

Now a senior figure in her field, Dr Pattison is recognised for her leadership in both clinical excellence and departmental governance. She is joint lead for breast radiology at University College London Hospital, overseeing specialist breast imaging services, while also serving as joint lead for quality and safety within the radiology department. These roles involve supporting high standards of diagnostic practice, patient safety and quality improvement across the imaging service. 

Her technical skill set encompasses the full spectrum of advanced breast diagnostics, including mammography, ultrasound, MRI and CT. She also performs specialist interventional procedures, including ultrasound-guided and stereotactic breast procedures and vacuum-assisted excisions, providing precise tissue sampling and minimally invasive treatment where appropriate.
