Dr Sophia Opel

Dr Sophia Opel is an award-winning, UK trained dedicated Consultant Plastic Surgeon based in London, specialising in skin cancer treatment, hand surgery, scar management, and trauma reconstruction. 

Working at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust, she is known for her precision in complex surgeries and her compassionate and friendly approach to patient care. Her expertise spans advanced skin cancer excision and reconstruction, particularly in sensitive areas such as the face, as well as treating a range of hand conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome and Dupuytren’s disease.

With extensive experience in reconstructing soft tissue and bone injuries at a Major Trauma Centre, Dr Opel is skilled in techniques like skin grafts and flaps to achieve exceptional outcomes. Her passion for patient-centred care is matched by a strong academic background, having graduated from University College London and completing advanced fellowships in microsurgery, aesthetics, and trauma reconstruction.

Dr Opel is deeply involved in training the next generation of plastic surgeons, regularly teaching and supervising trainees. She recently won the coveted 'Best Trainer' standing out amongst her peers. She has published widely and written book chapters in textbooks, contributing significantly to the field.
