Ms Maryam Alfa-Wali is a Consultant Colorectal and Trauma Surgeon at St Mary's Hospital, London, within the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Her clinical expertise centres around addressing general surgical conditions, benign colorectal issues affecting the bowel, anus, and rectum, as well as the management of major trauma cases. Renowned for her holistic approach, Ms Alfa-Wali integrates clinical proficiency, research excellence, and a commitment to education to deliver compassionate and effective care. She has a particular interest in promoting environmentally friendly surgical practices, optimising resource utilisation, and fostering sustainability within the healthcare sector.

Ms Alfa-Wali holds a PhD from Imperial College London, focused on 'Metabolic Profiling in Patients with Colorectal Cancer'. She completed her medical degree at Cardiff Univeristy, followed by a Master’s degree in Surgical Education (MEd) from Imperial College. She later became a Fellow in General Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). She is also a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (MFST), where she actively engages in shaping the future of surgical education.
