Dr Shouja Alam

Dr Shouja Alam is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatrician specialising in Paediatric Nephrology. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, he focuses on providing comprehensive care for children experiencing a wide range of kidney and renal conditions. Dr Alam is committed to delivering high-quality, reassuring care to young patients and their families, ensuring that complex medical journeys are navigated with clarity and empathy. His clinical practice encompasses both general paediatric care and specialised tertiary nephrology services.

In his clinical practice, Dr Alam has a particular interest in the management of chronic kidney disease, rare renal disorders, and mineral and bone conditions in children. He is highly skilled in managing renal replacement therapies, including haemodialysis, and supporting families through the complexities of paediatric kidney transplantation pathways. Additionally, his clinical interests extend to the investigation of urinary tract infections, the interpretation of pyuria, and genetic testing for familial conditions such as Alport syndrome. Dr Alam also possesses expertise in evaluating infantile seizures and other complex paediatric presentations, ensuring a holistic approach to child health.

Dr Alam completed his medical training at the University of Bristol. Committed to advancing the standards of healthcare training, he also obtained a Master of Medical Education. He is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and actively contributes to the wider medical community.
