Dr Shirley Mulvaney

Dr Shirley Mulvaney is a dedicated Paediatrician and Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine who provides specialist care for infants, children, and young people facing acute medical conditions. She is deeply committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred emergency treatment during high-pressure situations. Dr Mulvaney works closely with families to ensure calm, clear communication and reassuring support throughout every stage of emergency care.

Dr Mulvaney earned her medical degree in Malta, qualifying in 2001. She subsequently completed extensive postgraduate training in general paediatrics before undertaking subspecialist training in Paediatric Emergency Medicine, which she completed in 2016. She is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, where she also serves as a College Tutor, and holds an academic post as an Honorary Lecturer.

Her clinical expertise encompasses the full spectrum of emergency paediatric care, with a special focus on paediatric trauma, major incident management, and acute resuscitation. Dr Mulvaney is actively involved in clinical simulation training to refine trauma team responses and elevate standards of care. Her clinical interests also include emergency airway management, the urgent assessment of paediatric respiratory conditions, and the acute management of accidental ingestions and traumatic injuries.

Dr Mulvaney is passionate about clinical education and regularly leads training initiatives for healthcare professionals, emergency staff, and community groups. Her structured, evidence-based approach ensures that young patients presenting with critical or complex conditions receive prompt, high-quality medical attention tailored to their individual needs.
