Dr Sarah Wali is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with extensive experience in gynaecological surgery, cancer diagnostics, and women's health. She combines academic excellence with a strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care.
She trained at King's College London, graduating with an MBBS and an intercalated BSc in Physiology with First Class Honours. She later completed a Diploma in the History of Medicine and a Master's degree in Medical Ethics and Law from the Dickson Poon School of Law. Dr Wali holds dual postgraduate memberships of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG 2019), reflecting a broad and integrated approach to women's healthcare.
Her specialist surgical training includes advanced laparoscopic surgery, with certification from the European Gynaecological Endoscopy School (GESEA Level 2) and a diploma from the Centre International de Chirurgie Endoscopique (CICE) in France. She completed a two-year fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where she developed expertise in complex laparoscopic procedures and high-intensity robotic theatre lists.
Dr Wali's clinical practice focuses on minimal access surgery, early-stage gynaecological oncology diagnostics and treatment, and advanced labour ward care. She has particular expertise in colposcopy, outpatient hysteroscopy, gynaecology and early pregnancy ultrasound, and one-stop clinics for general gynaecology and urgent suspected cancer pathways. Her surgical practice includes both open and minimally invasive procedures for benign gynaecological conditions and early-stage gynaecology malignancy.
She holds a substantive consultant post at Ashford and St Peter's NHS Foundation Trust and serves as Deputy Lead for Colposcopy, supporting the safety and quality of the service. Previously, she was Deputy Lead for the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme in Gynaecology at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, where she led the expansion of Day Case Laparoscopic Hysterectomy services, improving surgical efficiency, reducing waiting times, and enhancing patient outcomes. She has authored clinical guidelines, led audits, and redesigned clinical pathways to improve multidisciplinary team working and diagnostic efficiency.
Dr Wali has published multiple peer-reviewed papers across obstetrics and gynaecology and maintains a strong interest in clinical governance and medicolegal practice.
A committed educator, she has contributed extensively to surgical training. As London trainee representative for the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) from 2020 to 2024, she coordinated the region's participation in a national laparoscopic training programme. Her surgical training video won first prize in the BSGE Trainee Surgical Video Competition during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also updates the RCOG Minimal Access Surgery online learning module, part of the national training curriculum for obstetrics and gynaecology trainees.
Fluent in Arabic and proficient in French, Dr Wali brings cultural awareness and sensitivity to the care of a diverse patient population.
