Dr Sarah Steven

Dr Sarah Steven is a Consultant Diabetologist and Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology who provides expert, compassionate care for patients managing endocrine and metabolic conditions. Her clinical focus encompasses holistic diabetes management, aiding patients in achieving better metabolic health through individualised treatment strategies. Dr Steven is dedicated to supporting individuals with complex metabolic needs, empowering them to take control of their health through clear communication and collaborative care.

Dr Steven completed her Bachelor of Science with Honours in 2001 and obtained her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with Honours from Edinburgh University in 2004. Following postgraduate clinical training, she attained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in Diabetes and Endocrinology in 2010. She subsequently conducted clinical research into the effects of calorie restriction and metabolic health, earning a Doctor of Philosophy from Newcastle University in 2016. Demonstrating her ongoing leadership in patient care, Dr Steven was selected as a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion.

Throughout her clinical work, Dr Steven places a strong emphasis on evidence-based lifestyle modifications alongside modern therapeutic management. Her clinical interests include preconception care for women with diabetes, managing diabetes during pregnancy, and supporting patients through dietary strategies for Type 2 diabetes management and potential remission.
