Mr Ryan Baron

Mr Ryan Baron is a highly accomplished Consultant General Surgeon who specialises in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) and emergency general surgery. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, he is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care for individuals experiencing complex abdominal, pancreatic, and biliary conditions. Mr Baron's clinical practice is characterised by his expertise in both elective and emergency surgical interventions, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and timely treatment tailored to their unique needs.

His extensive areas of clinical interest encompass the surgical management of both benign and malignant pancreatic diseases, gallbladder disease, hernias, and various abdominal disorders. Mr Baron is highly skilled in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques, including robotic distal pancreatectomy and robotic pancreatoduodenectomy, commonly known as the Whipple's procedure. He is also deeply involved in developing complex biliary surgery pathways, utilising intraoperative laparoscopic ultrasound, common bile duct exploration, and combined surgical and endoscopic procedures to optimise patient outcomes.

Mr Baron completed his medical degree (BM BCh) at the University of Oxford, followed by a PhD in Pancreatology from the University of Liverpool, where his research focused on the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and hereditary chronic pancreatitis. He holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in General Surgery. Alongside his clinical duties, Mr Baron is a committed educator and researcher, actively contributing to peer-reviewed medical journals and participating in clinical trials to advance the field of general and pancreatic surgery.
