Dr Rory Morrison

Dr Rory Morrison is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery and lower limb joint restoration. Dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, he provides individualised treatment plans to help patients manage pain, regain mobility, and achieve optimal functional recovery. Dr Morrison is committed to maintaining a reassuring and collaborative clinical environment for every patient under his care.

His clinical practice focuses on a broad range of joint and soft-tissue conditions affecting the lower limbs. As a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr Morrison performs total and partial knee replacement procedures, soft-tissue knee surgeries involving the ligaments, meniscus, and cartilage, and patellofemoral surgeries for kneecap pain and instability. He also provides realignment osteotomy procedures and primary hip replacement surgery, utilising modern, evidence-based techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes.

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr Morrison is actively involved in clinical research and academic advancement. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) investigating the impact of vitamin D on outcomes following joint replacement surgery and has served as a lead investigator on various national orthopaedic trials. His involvement in scientific research ensures that his practice remains aligned with the latest evidence and clinical innovations.

Dr Morrison graduated with a medical degree from Leeds Medical School and completed an intercalated Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours at Dundee University. He undertook higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics in the North East of England, followed by a dedicated specialist fellowship in knee surgery. In 2022, he completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at Newcastle University, and he holds Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr & Orth). Dr Morrison has previously served as a Research Fellow with the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has held executive positions within national research bodies, including serving as past chair of the national orthopaedic research collaborative CORNET and academic representative for the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association.
